Future of Arts, Culture & Technology Symposium
2022 –
A two-day symposium exploring the future of arts, culture, and technology in Australia – and the mindsets, capabilities and skills we need to get there.

ACMI, in conjunction with the Australia Council’s national Cultural Digital Program, runs a mentoring initiative for strategic technology and digital mentoring for cultural organisations.

ACMI X + Ludo Studio Residency
2024
We partnered with Ludo Studio, the Emmy-award winning production company behind Bluey, Robbie Hood and The Strange Chores, to establish a 3-month $10,000 residency giving local animators the opportunity to create the next global hit from our co-working hub, ACMI X.
ACMI + RMIT Young Creators' Lab
2024 –
ACMI and RMIT invites local digital developers aged 10–16 years to showcase their projects and products at ACMI.
ACMI + MESS
2021–23
ACMI partnered with Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS) in North Melbourne on a new initiative to support local musicians and producers.
ACMI + RMIT Games Prize

A unique opportunity to support the next generation of Australian game developers, championing graduate students to hone their skills and transition into the games industry.

The Lens is a free handheld, take-home device that lets visitors collect the artworks and objects they discover in our exhibitions.

We are exploring the potential of machine learning and generative outputs with our online collection.
Web3 Fellowship
February – April 2023
Seven of our staff joined representatives from twelve cultural institutions from around the world to develop Web3 literacies and learn more about what blockchain technologies might offer the arts and cultural sectors.

Our digital initiatives are driven by an ethos of open sourced and open access technologies wherever possible.
Konstellationen // Constellations
Our collaboration with Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum (DFF) to create an interactive visitor experience for their museum inspired by ACMI’s Constellation is now live.
XOS
XOS (eXperience Operating System) is a collection of software and related hardware devices that we use to run exhibitions. It connects together collection data, images and videos, Internet-of-things (IoT) devices in the exhibition, constellations and content online and is designed to deepen the impact our exhibitions have on our visitors. We do this through the Lens.
