Lying on the floor is a bloodied double of Judy’s outfit. Costume designers don’t apply blood to the main version of the costume in case it needs to be used later. While the skirt on the left is made from a rare curtain from the period, this one is made from corduroy because it is seen less in the film. Fabrics aren’t the only important thing: the colour of the blood is too, and it needs to be tested to make sure it looks real on film. It’s also applied to the costume while the actor wears it, because it falls differently whether they’re standing or sitting.
