A detailed examination of the mining and processing of copper, silver, lead and zinc at Mt. Isa, one of the world’s largest underground mines. Covers such aspects as the operation of the mine, mining techniques, mineral extractions and smelting, refining and distribution of the processed metal. Uses of the various metals are illustrated. Quality and pollution controls are also explained. The importance of Mt. Isa as a large inland city is also stressed.
