Gives an overview of the Direct Instruction technique which was developed in the 1960’s to develop successful students with a positive approach and works on problem solving skills so students learn to learn. Skills are broken into sub-skills until mastered and integrated. Notes the goals, assumptions and characteristics of Direct Instruction programmes, provides a brief description of teaching techniques and how to prepare a Direct Instruction program.
