Episode number 2 of Series “The Migrant experience”.
Illustrates the motivations of individuals and various ethnic groups who migrated to Australia. Looks at the convict experience, the Irish, British, northern and southern European and Pacific Islander immigrant experiences, as well as the experiences of recent refugees from Indo-China, Lebanon, Uganda, Timor and Chile. Also considers the accuracy of Australian government promotional literature and films produced to attract migrants in the postwar period.
