This recorded production of Christoph Willibald von Gluck’s “Orfeo and Euridice”, original text by Ramierie de’Calzabigi, is presented by the Glyndebourne Festival Opera with an introduction by Dame Janet Baker. It is a tale of Greek mythology after the classic legend, Orpheus and stars singer Janet Blake, as Orfeo, in her farewell performance on the operatic stage, along with Elisabeth Speiser as Euridice and Elizabeth Gale as Amore. Features the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus and the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Raymond Leppard in a new staging production by Peter Hall. Sung in Italian. Includes a guide with English translation.
