An Oklahoma farm boy dreams his way back to the glory of ancient Rome and becomes a spokesman for the oppressed Roman people, suffering under the tyrannical rule of the cruel and sneering Emperor Valerius. A musical comedy of dance and song adapted by William Anthony McGuire from the original story by George S. Kaufman and Robert E. Sherwood with songs by Harry Warren and Al Dublin and production numbers directed by Busby Berkeley. Starring Eddie Cantor and Ruth Etting with Gloria Stuart, Phillips Holmes, Edward Arnold, Alan Mowbray and The Goldwyn Girls and an appearance by Lucille Ball in her film debut as a slave girl.
