Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot, with libretto by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni, tells the legend of the beautiful but icy Princess Turandot, and the three riddles she asked her would-be suitors. Performed at the Arena di Verona in 1983 by the Orchestra, Chorus and Corps de Ballet of the Arena di Verona this lavish production with its epic stage setting and beautiful hues of pastel colors features a wonderful cast with Ghena Dimitrova as Turandot, Nicola Martinucci as Prince Calaf, Cecilia Gasia as Liu, Ivo Vinco as Timur. Produced by Giuliano Montaldo, conducted by Maurizio Arena. Sung in Italian. Includes a guide with English translation.
