Travelling Light: Set in Adelaide in the 1970s comes writer/director Kathryn Millard’s debut feature film. Leanne Ferris (Pia Miranda) is supposed to be embracing her studies to become a teacher but is caught up in the social change and dynamism of the era when women and youth, in particular, were finding a new generation’s independence. The restrictive nature 1970s Australian society places on the married women in her life (Mum and elder sister Bronwyn) infuse Leanne with a drive to find her own path by becoming a photographer. Sexual forays, drug taking and poetry help shape Leanne’s young adulthood. Cast includes: Sacha Horler, Tim Draxl, Marshall Napier, Heather Mitchell, Simon Burke, Kestie Morassi, Tamblyn Lord. “Parklands” [307794]: Rosie (Cate Blanchett) is a young woman who returns to her home in Adelaide for her father’s (Tony Martin) funeral. This intriguing short film follows the path Rosie takes to solve the mystery of her father’s death. Talking with old friends, looking through diaries and photographs - reliving her childhood, she comes to understand the life of the man she called her father.
