Making movies

This is a compilation of documentary and archival footage, newsreels, motion picture trailers and excerpts on the subject of making movies. It includes behind the scenes look at Psycho, Dr Zhivago and The Godfather with excerpts from Hollywood classics such as The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur, Jason and the Argonauts, The Jazz singer and many more. The program is broken into segments dealing with all aspects of motion picture production and the motion picture industry (not necessarily in the following order): The screen director (Alfred Hitchcock, David Lean); Let’s go to the movies (history of Hollywood and motion pictures); Prince of Terror (Christopher Lee and vampire/horror films); Movies are adventure (action/adventure films); History brought to life (historical films and re-enactments); Monsters and special effects; The screen writer (Mario Puzo); Screen actors (Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton); The costume designer (Judy Garland in costume test); The art director; The cinematographer; The sound man; Moments in music (Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby, Mario Lanza). Contains some very amusing and rare footage and is interesting and informative from a historical point of view. NB: The segments are disjointed and the quality variable.
