Robert Rauschenberg, one of the most important artists of the twentieth century. life works and practice are featured in this documentary. Influenced mostly by popular culture and the everyday his practice has continued for over 40 years being one of the most influential artists of his time. His retrospective at the Guggenheim, New York in 1997 is featured as well as his 1/4 Mile or 2 Furlong Piece, a multipanelled autobiographical piece begun in 1982 that is expected to out measure the length of its title once completed. Living and working since the 70’s in his Captiva island studio off Florida, Rauschenberg constructs 1/4 Mile, demonstrating his process whilst giving us an opportunity to see the piece for the first time in its entirety. Narrated by Sean Barrett.
