Episode of Series “Phaidon art collection”.
In the second episode of this three part series presented by Karl Lagerfeld, the influence of film and television stars within fashion is discussed. From the designers who outfitted Claudette Colbert, Joan Crawford and Josephine Baker to Nolan Miller, head costume designer for “Dynasty”. The rise of the celebrity role model and the creation of a certain style is also explored. It highlights the influence of individual designers such as Jean Patou and Coco Chanel and also examines the relationship between fashion style and history, art and photography. Includes interviews with Pierre Cardin and other leading industry players.
