A four part series presented by Michael Davie, a 22-year-old writer and filmmaker who set out to travel from one side of Africa to the other, the notorious 8500km journey from Cape Town to Cairo through dangerous and spectacular surroundings including Johannesburg, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lake Malawi, Mount Kilimanjaro and Ethiopia. Arrested, beaten and interrogated numerous times on his journey, Michael reached his destination seven months after starting. The parts of the series are: Episode 1: Warriors and Witchdoctors - Michael begins by rediscovering his roots, having left the country as a childhood refugee, before travelling to Johannesburg where he meets Geraldine, a homeless prostitute and discovers the city’s violence firsthand. Episode 2: Home is Where the Landmines Are - Michael hitches to Zimbabwe and is arrested for investigating the lives of street kids before heading to Mozambique where he meets a 5 year old landmine victim and watches her learn to walk again. Episode 3: Slobs in Paradise - Michael travels Lake Malawi and Dar es Salam, investigates the heroin trade in Tanzania and climbs Mount Kilimanjaro. Episode 4: Delinquents, Tribes and Millionaires - Michael searches for the Masai warriors and meets some teenage millionaires in Kenya before sailing up the Nile to Cairo.
