A 9 part television serial about Australian author Alan Marshall, from his childhood and his diagnosis with Polio to his adulthood as he struggles to become a writer. Based on his three autobiographical novels “I can Jump Puddles”, ‘This is the Grass” and “How Beautiful are thy Feet”. Adult Alan (played by Lewis Fitzgerald), is taken into the city by his father, and soon is employed as a clerk. Boarding in the local pub means meeting a wide variety of people, and Alan’s country naivete is quickly discovered and exploited by the locals. Eventually Alan settles in and makes friends and continues to maintain his notebook and his ambition to be a writer.
