Series 3, episodes 8-13. “I Name thee bay of pearls” (Dir: Stuart McDonald); Laura’s mother arrives in Pearl Bay but Laura has little time for her or her grievances, Max begins learning about Pearl Bay history and Harold is feeling his age, especially when he finds himself representing elderly drivers caught in a recent spate of traffic crimes. “Eminent persons” (Dir: Ben Lewin); Laura discovers a case of report card fraud involving Rupert, corrupt Port Deakin councillors are brought to trial - giving Max the chance to stir things up a bit, and Heather leaves Bob after he refuses to support her success at winning a prestigious real estate award. “Checks and balances” (Dir: Ben Lewin); Something is wrong with Kevin, he’s not talking, goes out of town without Phrani, and has even made it out of shorts into slacks. Meanwhile, Laura is reluctant to spread news of her impending marriage and is perturbed by her reaction to Max when he repays a debt. Max is also alienated by the town when they discover he wrote ‘Still waters’. “Love in the time of Coleridge” (Dir: Ian Watson); Max accepts a lucrative job at an international newspaper and plans to leave Pearl Bay, Trudi becomes a Vietnamese interpreter in court and Karen takes up surfing in an attempt to win back Angus. “To thine own self be true” (Dir: Ian Watson); Laura decides to tell Warwick about her night with Max, who also feels compelled to tell him about his true feelings for Laura. Meanwhile, Max discovers a plan to turn Pearl Bay into a nuclear waste dump. “Half life” (Dir: Ian Watson); Laura is suffering from the effects of a cancelled wedding, Meredith suffers a stroke which has amazing repercussions for the rest of the town and Karen and Angus have their dream wedding. Guest stars include Shaun Micallef and Mark Mitchell.
