Features two films recounting the history and development of the SEC. “Fifty Years of Service” focuses on the history of electricity in Victoria from the late 1800’s to the development of the SEC in 1919. Highlights the achievements of Sir John Monash, the first General Manager and Chairman of the SEC. Looks at the development of power plants at Yallourn, Morwell, Hazelwood and Kiewa. Examples of the impact of electricity on domestic life at the time is shown with new appliances such as hair dryers and vacuum cleaners entering the home. (33 min) “Generations of Power” is another historical retrospective this time with comments from several SEC staff members from between the 1940’s to 1990’s. Includes a decade by decade look at the impact of electricity on Victorian Society. (23 min)
