“Yallourn’s Royal Hour” highlights the visit to Yallourn of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh on 3rd March 1954. Film of the royal motorcade through Melbourne is shown before their arrival in Yallourn where they inspect the coal extraction site at Yallourn Cut (16 min). “Born to Die” focuses on the prospect that Yallourn will be demolished to enable access to the coal reserves beneath it. Includes comments by the townspeople on their feelings about this. (48 mins) “Sir John Monash” is a tribute to the life of this pioneer Australian. The Vice Chancellor of Monash University speaks on his life and an account of his achievements is given. (27 min)
