A study of the Michelangelo paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. At the beginning of the sixteenth century, Bramante drew the plans for the new Basilica of St. Peter. Raphael peopled the halls in the Vatican with figures and stories of ideal beauty and Michelangelo displayed on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel that history of mankind which bears witness to the superhuman task of a superhuman spirit.
