2 women with unfulfilled dreams and 1 man with a gambling debt embark on a pact to rob a nightclub. Waitress Lucy (Rosanna Arquette) aspires to be Lucy the Ethereal, a female Houdini, but has not made a spectacular escape since childhood. Her friend, Viv (Eszter Balint), wants to create her own line of avant-garde lingerie but is finding it hard to make a start, and Monte (David Bowie) is a gambling addict who says he needs to marry before the end of the week or his life is in danger. Together, they rob the nightclub and Lucy agrees to marry Monte, however when the wedding falls through Monte loses yet another bet and it’s up to be Lucy to be Lucy the Ethereal once and for all to settle the accumulated $4 million dollar debt. Bowie’s real life wife, Iman, makes a cameo as a nightclub guest.
