‘Trio’ forms the second of three movie anthologies based on the short stories of British author W. Somerset Maugham. Other titles in the anthology include ‘Quartet’ (303249), and ‘Encore’ (309327). Stories include: ‘The Verger’; a verger’s fortunes change when he is dismissed by the Bishop: ‘Mr Knowall’ (Nigel Patrick), is an excruciating and over enthusiastic individual who bores his fellow passengers during a voyage, and: ‘Sanitorium’; Jean Simmons, Michael Rennie and Roland Culver star as tuberculosis patients who find some happiness despite their condition.
