Episode number 5 of Series “American cinema”.
Breezy and silly to witty and intelligent, romantic comedies have been around since the 1930’s but the surface humour barely masked issues of gender and sexuality. This program reviews screwball comedies including “It happened one night” and “His girl Friday” and analyses more recent interpretations of the genre by directors like Nora Ephron and James Brooks.
