To commemorate the Centenary of the Australian Football League, the National Film & Sound Archive produced this outstanding compilation of rarely seen documentary and newsreel footage of the early Victorian Football League (VFL) competition. Highlights include the earliest surviving film of a VFL match - the 1909 Grand Final, Carlton vs South Melbourne, action sequences featuring early legends of the game including Dick Lee, Dave McNamara, Billy Busbridge, Syd and Gordon Coventry, Ivor Warne Smith, Bill Mohr, Alan Hopkins, Jack Titus, Bob Pratt, Jack Dyer, Ron Todd, Jack Regan, Haydn Bunton, and rare footage of supporters. Commentary by Tim Lane. Background notes are contained inside the cover.
