Short poppies is a competitive film and video festival open to university and college students from around the world. This collection of ten productions has been selected from the second festival which opened at Kinselas night club in Sydney on July 7th 1994. The films were judged by a panel of filmmakers, critics and students and award winning work then toured around Australia to all capital cities. The short films included originate from Canada, Australia, United Kingdom and Germany, the titles of which are: “Rokadeus”, “The stranger”, “Bear in mind, “Memory snares”, “Bete noire”, “Talk show”, “Pet”, “Schlaraffenland”, “Miss Dudevant’s hand”, and “Beatrix and Marvin”.

Our collection comprises over 40,000 moving image works, acquired and catalogued between the 1940s and early 2000s. As a result, some items may reflect outdated, offensive and possibly harmful views and opinions. ACMI is working to identify and redress such usages.
