In this interview with John Taylor, Joan Lindsay speaks about her experiences as an art student at the National Gallery School in Melbourne and her decision to become a writer. She talks about her marriage to the painter Daryl Lindsay. Lindsay describes the process of writing her novel, “Picnic at Hanging Rock”, and her preoccupation with time as a theme. Related to both the Boyd and Lindsay families, she gives a unique insight into the personalities of some of Australia’s leading artists.
