Broome, in the remote north-west of Australia is famous for its pearling industry. Travelling the breadth of the Pearl Coast, Ted Egan encounters a number of extraordinary people like Yoshinori Maeda who came to Australia as a young man to fish, but decided to stay. The vast panoramic coast and desert of the north-west is explored, including the beautiful splendour of Deepwater Point, 200kms from Broome.
