Popular wartime film made in the classic Warner Studios gritty style by director Michael Curtiz, with a wonderful cast including Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman playing ill-fated lovers Rick and Ilsa. The story is set in Rick’s Café in Vichy controlled Casablanca which has become a gateway to America for desperate refugees escaping wartorn Europe. Others in the cast include Paul Henreid, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, Conrad Veidt and Claude Rains who delivers some of the most memorable lines in a particularly witty script by Phillip and Julius Epstein and Howard Koch.
