A cloud chamber and gold foil in a simple alpha-particle scattering experiment illustrates the historic Rutherford experiment which led to the nuclear model of the atom. Behaviour of alpha particles clarified by use of large scale models illustrating the nuclear atom and Coulomb scattering.
