The “Empress of Australia” built at Cockatoo Island Dockyard in Sydney Harbour, is the newest and the largest passenger vessel in the Australian Coastal Shipping Commission. On paper it represented a unique challenge to the Australian ship building industry. Designed to carry passengers and motor vehicles as well as freight between Sydney and Tasmania. Provides luxurious passenger accommodation, services and recreational facilties for the 40 hour trip.
