The manufacture of iron and steel at Port Kembla; the conversion of coal into coke in the enormous coke ovens; the smelting of iron ore in the blast furnaces to produce cast iron; the use of molten iron and scrap metal in the open hearth furnaces to produce high-grade steel; the rolling and stamping of white-hot ingots reducing the material to convenient shapes and sizes. The film concludes with information on products being planned for the “future” as part of the Australian steel industry. No credits available.
