Shows how planetary circulation systems, rain shadow effects and extremes of temperature away from the sea coasts result in arid or semi-arid deserts in Australia. Describes how water and wind erosion cause typical Australian desert land forms including gorges and eroded rock, salt and clay pans, gibber plains and dunes.
