Episode of Series “We Make Music”.
Opens with a brief recapitulation of the history of the instrument. Paul Tortelier with four cellists from the National Youth Orchestra plays the opening of Rossini’s William Tell Overture. The chamber works of Schumann and Brahms are discussed and Tortelier gives insights into how he combines skill, artistry and musicianship as he plays his own Toccata.
