Paul Tortelier, the French cellist and composer, conducts a master-class of four members of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and instructs them in some of the finer points in the Dvorak Cell Concerto. Tortelier gives a history of cello playing and the film ends with an excerpt from the great Cello Concerto by Lalo.
