Looks at the problems of diagnosing depression and treating it. Follows the experience of a suicidal patient through shock therapy and questions the effectiveness of this crude technique. Shows a leucotomy operation which cures a woman of a 9-year depression, but asks how much can be done for the ordinary depressed patient. Narrated by Paul Vaughan.
