The case for and against shiftwork in industry. The film follows the investigation of a textile factory by a visiting consultant who produces a prima facie case for shiftwork while flashbacks show it was successfully introduced in other factories. Discussion with management and shop floor illuminate various systems of shiftwork and the organizational and human problems involved in its application.
