Describes life on the inhospitable Antarctic continent. Animal and plant life is sparse but man has established himself. At the Mawson research station intensive study programmes include auroral physics, meteorology and medicine. The four months of daylight are packed with outdoor activities. Shows the annual arrival of the supply ship from Australia and describes some of the emotions of the men on the expedition.
