The Boys from Boise

USA, 1944

TV show

There were a few original musicals written for television in the 1940s, but viewers were few and these shows are essentially forgotten. Most experts agree that the first original televised musical was The Boys From Boise, broadcast by the DuMont Network on Sept. 28, 1944. It had a score by Sam Medoff and told the story of a troupe of showgirls stranded on an Idaho ranch. Although well received, it boasted no stars, turned out no hit songs and started no trends. - musicals101.com
