For over 20 years, UE have subverted cinematic CGI (computer-generated imagery), physics simulations and real-time gaming graphics to produce seamless sensory experiences that centre joy, curiosity and simplicity.
But their exploration of movement, form and colour all starts from a single hand-drawn line, proving that creativity begins with an idea, not code or computers. First found in the pages of a sketchbook, UE’s charming friends begin their lives as quick pencil drawing that hint at their movement and personality.
In this short film, we see creative director Matt Pyke sketching out ideas in his studio. For the first time ever, a selection of these concept drawings will be displayed alongside the final artworks at ACMI.
