Spike Jonze’s Her has nothing on the latest Tiktok trend: NPC livestreaming. Developed by Canadian streamer Fedha Sinon, AKA Pinkydoll, streamers imitate the hyperreal behaviour of a videogame background character. As gifts pour in, she delivers responses in rapid-fire, perfectly imitating the uncanny valley effect of a computer-generated interaction. Most uncanny of all is her ability to maintain the persona for hours at a time, allegedly earning her $2-4000 per livestream.
