On 21 July 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin became the first people to walk on the moon. Through a global satellite network, including the satellite dish at the Parkes Observatory in New South Wales, this historic event was broadcast around the world and united an estimated 600 million people in a single moment.
