This video features in a responsive display in the museum that presents the moments, stories and memes capturing the zeitgeist by going viral on the internet.
Trans actor and model Hunter Schafer went live on Instagram to expose Silq, a nightclub in Düsseldorf, for refusing her assistant entry because she is trans. Schafer connected with up to 30.1K of her followers in real time to call out the club as “not safe for transgender people”. @schaferfiles, a Twitter fan account for the actress, ensured that Schafer’s broadcast could be accessed beyond the live stream, screen recording and reposting the video to Twitter. The viral nature of Schafer’s video demonstrates the power of social media as a tool for activism.
