This video features in a responsive display in the museum that presents the moments, stories and memes capturing the zeitgeist by going viral on the internet.
MorbiusSweep refers to a series of parody memes celebrating the 2022 superhero film Morbius as a massive commercial and critical success, despite the tepid response from the public. This tweet mixes well-known memes full of faked references to fan and critical touchpoints, such as director Martin Scorsese’s much publicised view that “Superhero films are not cinema”, and satirically highlights how fandoms attempt to hijack critical responses by flooding Rotten Tomatoes with disingenuous reviews, laying bare the intersection between internet hype and movie success.
