Director Woo-Suk Kang’s 2016 film tells the true story of the 19th century cartographer Kim Jeong-Ho, who mapped the islands of Korea. In a period when only royalty and governments held the knowledge held in maps, Jeong-Ho wanted to make maps to empower ordinary Koreans to mark their land and to travel safely. Maps embody knowledge, in stories and beyond.
