On Monday 15 November, trans model and advocate AJ Clementine walked her first Melbourne Fashion Week show – a perfect start to Transgender Awareness Week, which runs 13-19 November.
Curator Notes
AJ is an experienced model and social media star, using her platforms to advocate for trans rights across social media. She uses platforms like Tiktok and Instgram to reach hundreds of thousands of people, sharing her experiences as a trans woman with humour and grace.
This year, Melbourne Fashion Week coincides with Transgender Awareness Week, a week of visibility and celebration that runs 13-19 November, in the leadup to Trans Day of Remembrance of 20 November.
She hopes that using her reach to share her experiences will help contribute to a world where more young trans people feel liberated, supported and happy: "The world is a literal rainbow, and there are no limits on who someone can be, who they can love or where they can go," as she writes in her memoir Girl, Transcending.
