The Punisher for NES

Australia, 1990

Videogame

The Punisher puts the player in control of Frank Castle, and his iconic anti-hero persona, The Punisher. The game itself is an on-rails shooter, where the player can move left and right along the screen to avoid enemy gunfire but is otherwise automatically guided through each level. Levels are both packed with enemies and destructible objects, sometimes hiding powerups. These powerups include ammo, armour, grenades, and additional heath. The Punisher has six overall missions with a variety of environments and levels within each. Killing all the enemies in a level gives additional bonuses in the next stage, like extra grenades, ammo and an unlimited ‘super gun’ upgrade. The game ends with a gun and fistfight against the notorious villain Kingpin.
