Bad Street Brawler for NES

Australia, 1989

Videogame

In Bad Street Brawler, the player plays the character Duke Davis, a former punk rocker and the “world’s coolest” martial artist. Duke has to work his way through each level beating up the crooks that get in his way. Before the start of the next stage, quotes are introduced to entertain the player, such as “Never trouble trouble until trouble troubles you”. The player’s moves are limited to kicks and punches but new moves and attacks become available as the game progresses, along with new enemy types such as gorillas flinging bananas, menacing stakeboarders and circus strongmen. Bad Street Brawler is one of two games designed specifically for Mattel’s Power Glove.
