Produced by the Victorian Department of Agriculture, this short film is an advertisement for the radio broadcast “The Voice of Agriculture”. Typical of the (now outdated) representation of gender roles of the time, the film opens with a domestic scene in which the mother of the family is making dinner while her husband discusses farm work. The farmer, who is having trouble with his sheep, calls on professional help from a veterinarian at the Department of Agriculture, who informs him about the radio program “The Voice of Agriculture”, which is designed to help farmers like him. The film then shows the behind-the-scenes production of the broadcast, including voice actors, radio technicians and vintage wireless sets.
