Filmmaker Alexander Nicoll made a range of home movies in Australia from the 1930s to the 1960s. The family film collection was donated to ACMI by Alexendar’s son Mac.

This reel is of the filmmaker’s daughter Jean and her visitor, Toddy. Toddy is in military uniform when he rounds a corner of a house to chat happily to Jean, with their dog and pet birds. While on leave from the RAF, Toddy was billeted to the family home in Essendon during his time in Melbourne.
