One of two magnaphonic 35mm projectors donated by Bill Newman. Kerri’s father (name to be confirmed) has taken the projectors apart, cleaned them and re-assembled them. He has also repainted the lamp houses. Representative of early twentieth century Australian cinema equipment and history. These projectors were operated in Tumbarumba NSW, by William James Burnell Newman (Bill), who operated under Valley Theatres, from approximately 1959 until 1965, when TV started the demise of country theatres. These projectors were used in tandem as film rolls needed to be changed seamlessly during a session. The projectionist loaded all ‘even’ reels on one projector, and ‘odd’ reels on the other projector. As a reel was nearing its end, the projectionist had to switch over the film with perfect timing.
