In a special event held at ACMI as part of the ‘Hollywood Costume’ exhibition, curator Professor Deborah Nadoolman Landis introduced the art of costume design and discussed its role in cinematic storytelling.
Landis, an Oscar®-nominated Hollywood costume designer (‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’, ‘The Blues Brothers’, Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’) is also the author of ‘Hollywood Costume’ (2012), the prize-winning exhibition catalogue, and ‘Hollywood Sketchbook: A Century of Costume Illustration’ (2012) among many other volumes.
Landis received her Ph.D. from the Royal College of Art in London and is the Founding Director of the David C. Copley Center for Costume Design at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.
