Jock McAuley remembers hearing Prime Minister Menzies announcing Australia was at war. He was only 15 or 16 at the time and wondered if the would be still going by the time he was old enough to join. Against his dad’s wishes, Jock joined up and served as a pilot during the war. He tells of his experiences fighting for Australia.
